Medical Assistant

The purpose of the Medical Assisting program is to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the following three: cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains

Our hands-on training, is designed to get real-world experience while learning valuable skills. You will learn the following:

  • Administrative skills: (appointment scheduling, billing, telephone skills, insurance, transcription, computer applications for medical offices)
  • Clinical skills: (EKG, blood drawing, injections, vital signs, patient exam preparation, assisting physician during exam or office surgery)
  • Lab procedures
  • 120 hours of unpaid practicum

Upon completion of  this program,  you will be ready and equipped with the skills needed for a career in the following:

  • Physicians’ Offices
  • Hospitals (Out-Patient Department)

Phlebotomy Technician

The purpose of the Phlebotomy program is to prepare a student for employment as Phlebotomist.

Our hands-on training, is designed to get real-world experience while learning valuable skills. You will learn the following:

  • Essential skills necessary to perform venipuncture
  • Safety and infection control
  • Patient communication and education
  • Law and ethics

Upon completion of  this program,  you will be ready and equipped with the skills needed for a career in the following:

  • Walk-In-Clinics
  • LABS
  • Doctors’ Offices

Home Health Aide (75 Hours)

The Home Health Aide program provides skilled knowledge for a career
as a Home Health Aide. Classes provide the necessary instruction for
proper communication skills with the client, the importance of ensuring a
safe, clean, and healthy home environment; personal care, and
nutritional needs. This course also addresses special care and
rehabilitation needs of the client; household management;
record-keeping; pet-facilitated therapy; and employability skills.

The Home Health Aide program provides knowledge for all students in
health sciences or health occupations, regardless of the particular
health care profession they are pursuing. Content includes coverage of
health care career opportunities, vital signs, medical terminology,
cultural diversity, anatomy and physiology.

Our hands-on training, is designed to get real-world experience while learning valuable skills. You will learn the following:

  • American Heart Association BLS (CPR) for New Healthcare Providers

HHA jobs in Florida are growing quickly! Home Health Aides make an extraordinary difference for patients that are sick, elderly or disabled. Baby boomers are projected to have a growing need for home health aides who can assist with household chores, activities of daily living and companionship. With the change in health insurance and the advancement of the Affordable Care Act, the demand for home health care is rising. Home care is typically less expensive than nursing home or hospital care. It allows patients and seniors to heal and remain in their home for as long as possible. As a result, the Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts brisk employment opportunities for home health care of about 48.5 percent between 2012 and 2022.

ECG/EKG (Electrocardiogram) Technicians

ECG/EKG (Electrocardiogram) Technicians perform ECG tests that record and monitor electrical impulses transmitted by the heart. The ECG/EKG Technician examination content areas include medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, rhythm, and basic interpretation. An electrocardiograph (EKG or ECG) technician administers diagnostic cardiac tests to patients pre-surgery or to patients who may have cardiac problems; the tests help detect, and monitor medical conditions such as heart disease, arrhythmias, pericarditis and angina.
